Egypt (Cairo / Giza, Egypt)
Works of art live longer than our life. The desire of making and keeping may show our longing for eternity. Egypt has the ingredients of such human world. My visiting was from the close of 2004 to the beginning of 2005.
the Nile
the Nile

"Egypt is the fruit of the Nile." Walid, who is a friend of my Guest House Hanata days, an Egyptian, in his twenties, medium height and has short black hair, stressed Herodotos's words in his mails. His wile, Safaa is so beautiful and a good Japanese speaker 'cause she was learning it at Ocha-no-mizu University. Essert, Pension SAKURA's owner, is also good at Japanese and although Abdoo cannot speak Japanese, his English is very polite and easy to listen except "Nora". It actually means "Norway". Tourism is so popular here, so it seems that people like foreigners. We could pass the immigration gate with ease at the airport. To be surprised, there was no question. And I could get VISA by paying only 1,500 yen. I just handled it in, and my passport. These days many countries seem to give us tourist visas at the airport. (Other visas must, almost always, be issued before we arrive in the country we're goin' to.) Ok, let me tell you 'bout the distinguished service of the Nile. It's not too much to say that the Nile bore a civilization and technology. It's very much prior to Europe. They were around for a very long time and practical and still religious. Then, Greek philosophers take away religion from technology and studied as physical sciences. After that, they were brought to Europe and became a propelling power of the modern scientific developement by experiments or mathematics. That's it.
